CANADA - VIA RAIL : VIA Rail’s Many Scenic Journeys in Canada![]() The Canadian runs thrice-weekly between Vancouver and Toronto, with stops at Kamloops, Jasper, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Sudbury Junction. The Snow Train to Jasper is VIA Rail's wintertime version of its flagship Canadian service. Winding through the breathtaking Canadian Rocky Mountains, this classically romantic, once-in-a-lifetime rail journey delivers passengers to Jasper, Alberta, and its welcoming, luxurious resorts. Get aboard the Snow Train Express from Edmonton to Jasper for a weekend of skiing. The Snow Train Express is there for skiers, for outdoor enthusiasts and those looking for a relaxing weekend getaway into the heart of the Rockies. Travellers can extend their stay by combining the Snow Train Express schedule with the Canadian (Snow Train) that allows them to make a long weekend, and return Monday mid-morning instead of Sunday night. The Skeena leaves Jasper (JASPER HOTELS) three times weekly for a two-day all-daylight journey through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Canada. The journey ends in the coastal city of Prince Rupert. The Malahat provides daily round-trip passenger service along the east coast of Vancouver Island between Victoria (VICTORIA HOTELS), at the southernmost tip, to Courtenay (COURTNEY HOTELS) in the north. The Hudson Bay takes passengers on a 1,700 km. trip from Winnipeg (WINNIPEG HOTELS) to Churchill on the sub-arctic shores of Hudson Bay. Churchill, “Polar Bear Capital of the World”. is famous for its polar bears in the wild and for its unparalleled views of the Northern Lights. Toronto, Ontario, is a railroad gateway in all directions. Centrally located in the Québec City-Windsor corridor a network that connects southern Québec and southern Ontario trains offer you speedy downtown-to-downtown travel to and from Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, Québec City, Niagara Falls, Windsor, London, Kingston, and Sarnia. Travelling northeast from Toronto (TORONTO HOTELS) aboard the Lake Superior, VIA’s Sudbury-White River train provides reliable, comfortable service to the region's various communities. Montréal (MONTREAL HOTELS), Québec's premier city, is a true crossroads for people travelling in Québec. All VIA’s Québec trains have Montréal's Central station as their arrival or departure point. From Montréal, you can quickly reach major destinations in southern Québec and southern Ontario. You can also head east to Gaspe or the Gaspésie region. Finally, Montréal is also the departure point for exploring northern Québec aboard the Abitibi and the Saguenay trains. The Ocean is a night train that runs six times a week (six times each way) between Montréal and Halifax (HALIFAX HOTELS). You will cover hundreds of kilometres while sleeping soundly and you'll wake up in a completely different part of Canada. The Ocean leaves Montréal in the evening and travels through the small villages on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River before entering the Matapédia Valley. By very early morning, you'll see Chaleur Bay. From there, the Ocean heads south across New Brunswick (NEW BRUNSWICK HOTELS), where it stops in Moncton (MONCTON HOTELS) before noon, and then continues on to Nova Scotia to arrive at Halifax around mid-afternoon. In the other direction, the Ocean leaves Halifax in the afternoon to reach Montréal the next morning.
