Just east of Scotts Bluff National Monument, a well-known landmark on the Oregon Trail, GERING offers many attractions including the North Platte Valley Museum, WildLife World, a natural History museum, and the Wildcat Hills Nature Center; the Farm and Ranch Museum is located just below Scotts Bluff National Monument.

At GRAND ISLAND A number of natural and historical attractions include the living history Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer, a turn-of-the-century "Railroad Town" with 60 original buildings on seven acres, and the Crane Meadows Nature Center and Interpretive Facility with seven miles of hiking trails and crane/wildlife exhibits.

KEARNEY is a small city with the look and feel of a Norman Rockwell painting; its attractions include The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument, the only museum that straddles an interstate highway and tells the story of the Platte River Road, the Museum of Nebraska Art, the Fort Kearny State Historical Park, the most important Nebraska outpost protecting thousands of westward bound pioneers during the middle of the 19th century; and the Trails & Rails Museum, located near the site where the original Mormon Trail passed.

LINCOLN offers a small-town ambiance with the amenities, attractions and entertainment opportunities of a metropolitan area from special childrens’ attractions such as the Folsom Children's Zoo & Botanical Gardens and the Lincoln Children's Museum to places for all the family, including the National Museum of Roller Skating; historical attractions include the Historic Haymarket District where antique stores, galleries, restaurants, unique shops and bookstores are housed in turn-of-the-century buildings in what used to be the warehouse/farmer's market section of the city; the Museum of Nebraska History, the Nebraska State Capitol, and the State Museum of Natural History and Mueller Planetarium.

NEBRASKA CITY is a bustling tourist center, widely recognised for its apple orchards, outlet shopping, and historic attractions including the Arbor Lodge State Historical Park and Arboretum.

Lake McConaughy State Recreation Park is 8 miles northeast of OGALLALA; its fish grow to trophy proportions, accounting for several state records; the Oglala National Grassland, encompassing 94,400 acres of land in the Nebraska Panhandle, is the most popular place in the state of Nebraska to hunt pronghorn antelope.

A number of wildlife attractions at VALENTINE include the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge, and the 9,000-acre Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge with abundant buffalo, elk, and Texas longhorn. Nebraska's national monuments and parks are famed: the Agate Fossil Beds on the Niobrara River and the surrounding prairie are preserved in a 3,000-acre National Monument, some 10 million years ago; hundreds of rhinos, three-toed horses, camels and other animals died and were buried by volcanic ash around the edges of a watering hole in what is now the Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park; the 700-acre Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, overlooking the picturesque valley of the Platte River near Ashland, offers all-season outdoor recreation.

The Sandhills Cattle Country is a geographically unique region in the New World with dunes covering some 20,000 square miles; the Arthur Bowring Sandhills Ranch State Historical Park preserves a working cattle ranch established at the turn of the century and the Victoria Springs State Recreation Area is in the heart of Sandhills.
