On the shores of the lake, Old Tahoe is alive and well with warm woods, open beams, two massive rock fireplaces and panoramic lakeviews. Golf

There are several outstanding golf courses in the Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas. Each offers fine groomed greens, club house, and/or pro shop and of course, spectacular views of either the lake or towering peaks. Golfing arrangements can be made which include green fees, cart rental, club rental and transfers from the Hyatt to the Golf Course. The most popular courses are the Incline Village Championship Course and Mountain Course at the Northshore, and Edgewood Golf Course at the South Shore. Also available and very nice is the course at Northstar at Tahoe. Tee times should be booked well in advance. Historic Shopping tour of Downtown Truckee

The charming downtown of Truckee is shopping friendly. Truckee has turned the first buildings ever built in town, some dating back to the late 1800's, into wonderful boutiques. One can shop for everything from the latest in fashion to fishing equipment. If you spend all your money to quickly don't despair, enjoy some of the historical points of town; the oldest and longest running jail in the west, the site of the first log cabin, the place where Charlie Chaplin relaxed after filming one of only 27 rocking stones in the world and hear about the rock's strange story and much more. Also another museum to find out the fate behind the Donner Party tragedy; a 30 minute movie on the tragedy is shown on the hour.

Fishing Charter

Lake Tahoe offers some of the best fresh water fishing in the west. The lake is home to: Mountain Trout, Rainbow Trout, German Brown Trout, Speckled Trout, Mackinaw, Mountain Whitefish and Kokanee Salmon. Charter fishing, led by professional guides, is the only way to really enjoy fishing on the lake. Bait and tackle are included. Fishing charters leave early in the morning or in the afternoon. Snowmobiling

BOULDER CITY is the gateway to Hoover Dam; soft adventure raft trips on the Colorado river start at the base of Hoover Dam with Black Canyon River Raft Tours, and nearby is Bruno's Indian and Turquoise Museum.

Points of interest at CARSON CITY, Nevada's state capital, include the native sandstone State Capitol, the Nevada State Museum in the former U.S. Mint, the Nevada State Railroad Museum, and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada with hands-on interactive exhibits; visitors can travel the blue-line Kit Carson Trail along the downtown sidewalks for a 2.5-mile walking tour of over 60 points of interest including the historic U.S. Mint and 24 "Talking Houses", Sharkey's Memorabilia Collection at Sharkey's Casino, and Gardnerville jammed with a unique collection of Western art, boxing memorabilia, circus items and saddle.

ELKO is a magnet for Western American folk art; exhibits at the Northeastern Nevada Museum include mastodon, ranching, mining, wildlife, fossils, firearms, local Basque history and Native American baskets; and contemporary folk art and cowboy gear at the Western Folklife Center.

ELY A former copper-mining town. The East Ely Railroad Depot Museum preserves the mining and transportation heritage of Eastern Nevada. The Nevada Northern Railway Museum is a major collection of historic rolling stock. The White Pine Public Museum exhibits reflect the mining and railroading lifestyles of the early settlers and includes the Hesselgesser collection of over 660 dolls. Nearby at the Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Site are six 30-foot tall kilns that provided charcoal for the smelter at the Ward mining camp.

EUREKA is a well preserved 19th-century mining town.

Known for its cantaloupes and fighter planes, FALLON is home to the U.S. Navy’s Top Gun flight school and the Churchill County Museum and Archives where guides take visitors through the Hidden Cave on a quarter-mile, uphill trail to the ancient storage site for local Native Americans; Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge provides a temporary home in the desert to hundreds of species of migratory birds; the Top Gun Speedway is a drag racing facility.
